WEEKEND CIRCULARS SHOW JAILBROKEN IPOD TOUCH WITH INSTALLER ON BOARD

by JOSHUA TOPOLSKY [18], posted Apr 13th 2008 at 3:04PM We're not sure who nodded off in the art department, but we're fairly certain they're going to be wide awake come Monday morning. Apparently, Radio Shack [19] is running circulars this week featuring the iPod touch [20]... with the Installer and MobileChat icons. We're sure Apple will be stoked to discover that a jailbroken iPod is hanging out in one of America's most-viewed ads, and we're equally sure that buyers will be pleased to learn they don't really get an IM application with their purchase. Champagne for everyone!

UPDATE: Take a look at a screen grab from the circular after the break.

[Thanks, Matt ">

Maybe the picture is there intentionally as deceptive ads. Besides, after Circuit City botched a car in an attempt to install a GPS, of course they use the ever-so-reliable Google Images rather than to take pics of their products. Darn corner cutting jerks! [55] [56] [57]Neutral [58]

@James:

Dude, read the post. Reasons you're an fanboidiot:

1.) It's an iPod Touch, not an iPhone. 2.) This has absolutely nothing to do with the iPhone being unlocked or not, regardless of the fact it should be, but blah blah blah 3.) You clearly have no idea what it means to jailbreak, much less the difference between that and being locked to a cellular carrier.

Though technically correct, Chase, I would avoid using the contraction "should've," especially when speaking. It gives off the impression that you are saying "should of", which is quite obviously incorrect. When used in writing, it gives off the impression of being slang, even though it is acceptable grammar. [207] [208] [209]Neutral [210]

Don't shorten proper noun to pro-noun. A pronoun is completely and utterly different than a proper noun.

If you wish to be pedantic, then your whole sentence modality is flawed, it should read 'One should not shorten proper noun to pro-noun'. [219] [220] [221]Neutral [222]

hypereric [223] @ Apr 14th 2008 8:58AM [224]

"it should read 'One should not shorten proper noun to pro-noun'."

I proffer that --- for the sake of clarity --- your attempt at correcting his grammar is not clear enough for educational purposes. Since it is proper grammar that we are seeking, the implicit recognition that clarity is derived from proper grammar is simply not a facet we can spare to overlook.

Therefore, may I humbly suggest the following revision? 'One should not shorten the [term] ["]proper noun["] to pro-noun'.

Or perhaps the following would invoke the clarity necessary for this discussion: 'One should not shorten the [term] ["]proper noun["] to the [term] ["]pro-noun["]'.

@Chase M:

I do realize that you are correct ...if it had been my quote. As it was not not my quote, I merely left the capitalization and grammar intact so as not to offend the original author. A form of literary device.

I probably should have prefaced the quote with, "The phrase 'completely and utterly' ..."

However, I will admit that I was being grammatically lazy, as were you with "should've". Therefore, I am marking both of our comments with a negative one. [231] [232] [233]Low Ranked [234]

hypereric [261] @ Apr 14th 2008 3:36PM [262]

@Oskin: This thread is the logical outcome of Ray posting, "I am pretty sure your [sic] an idiot".

One must exercise due diligence in his choice of words and grammar if one intends to use the word "idiot" to describe another poster.

As an aside: his proper usage of "an" instead of "a", along with the proper sentence structure, would suggest he is capable of using the correct grammar for "you're".

Besides, nearly everyone here has an elevated sense of self-worth; hence, they want to prove their intellectual prowess by berating others for their grammar. This thread has given such ones the ability to do this in a safe, controlled enviroment.
